Patience

The process of turning ideas into reality, and making what we want to create become what we have created is amazing to say the least. Next time you think about it, ask a six year old how they learned to tie their shoes. Chances are, they won’t be able to explain it! Somewhere between not knowing how and knowing how, there exists what I call the "field of possibility". Scientists and theorists are not completely sure how the process happens. When you practice something enough, if you have the ability, or acquire it, at some point the skill you seek becomes available to you. However, kids often want that skill "right now!" Patience is a very important discipline to develop, because it assists in the learning process, and helps us stay motivated

I have the ability to shuffle a deck of cards with one hand. Believe me, it took a lot of practice, and a tremendous amount of patience to "get it right". It’s a great example for this program, because it illustrates so nicely how patience and practice go together if one wishes to accomplish a difficult task.
